Data sources

The figures on ClimaFlip are our own calculations (normals, rankings, records, daily values) built from the data below, which we have modified: conversions, local time, averages and statistics.

Climate data

  • ERA5 and ERA5-Land, Copernicus Climate Change Service (C3S), versions covering 1940 to 2026. Contains modified Copernicus Climate Change Service information 2026. Neither the European Commission nor ECMWF is responsible for any use that may be made of the Copernicus information or data it contains.
  • Weather data by Open-Meteo.com, licence CC BY 4.0.

Some records come from our own compilation of observations made by long-running weather stations.

Places

  • GeoNames (geonames.org), licence CC BY 4.0: coordinates, elevation, time zone.
  • Wikidata, licence CC0: names of cities in each language.
