Questions & answers
What is ClimaFlip?
A free site that turns weather history into something you can play with: for each city, its normal climate, every year from 1940 to 2025 ranked, records, duels between years and the weather on any day.
How are the years ranked?
Each year is compared with the same city's 1991–2020 normal. Rank 1 is the warmest year (or the wettest, the snowiest… depending on the measure you pick).
Why are some values marked « estimate »?
Our figures describe the area around each city rather than a single thermometer, so peaks can be a little softer than what one station records. When a long-running station nearby holds a stronger reading, we show it too, marked « measured ».
Is ClimaFlip free?
Yes: every page and every tool is free, without sign-up.
